Finding a satisfying suburban brunch often comes down to getting the potato base right. On my visit to Wishart, I stopped by Coco & Co on Newnham Road to explore their large plate selection and try a dish built around crisp textures.

The venue features green wall signage and a visible coffee machine counter that give the space a relaxed café feel. There is room to sit down for a complete meal, while a well-stocked display cabinet offers quick options for anyone dropping in.

THE QUICK ANSWER

Is Coco & Co Cafe worth adding to your itinerary?

To accompany the food, I ordered an iced chai served over ice in a glass against the café's illustrated wall. While chilled and refreshing on a warm morning, the drink turned out a little watery for my taste, missing the spiced depth I usually look for in a chai.

Highlights from Zen’s visit.

At a glance: what we ordered

  • Rosti Benedict with scrambled eggs and added bacon
  • Iced chai
  • Chocolate chip cookie to go

Crispy Potato Rosti Benedict

The highlight of my visit was the rosti Benedict, and the potato base lived up to expectations with a remarkably crunchy bite. Plated over the potato rosti, the dish features spinach, a rich hollandaise sauce, a dusting of paprika and freshly chopped parsley.

I ordered mine with added bacon, which brought a classic savoury contrast to the crisp potato and hollandaise. I also appreciated being able to choose scrambled eggs for the dish, as the soft scrambled egg texture paired brilliantly with the crunchy potato rosti.

Chai Spices and Cabinet Treats

To accompany the food, I ordered an iced chai served over ice in a glass against the café's illustrated wall. While chilled and refreshing on a warm morning, the drink turned out a little watery for my taste, missing the spiced depth I usually look for in a chai.

Before heading out, I browsed their display cabinet packed with sweet treats and pastries. I grabbed a chocolate chip cookie to go, which gave me a classic sweet snack to enjoy after wrapping up brunch.
