When our spread hit the table at Milky Lane in Newstead, the sheer contrast between the dishes was clear straight away. Set within an expansive open-plan dining space framed by eye-catching hip-hop graffiti murals by artists Dallas Clark and Sofles, the room sets a high-energy backdrop before the first burger even arrives. Our order brought together two very different takes on chicken burgers alongside a basket of golden sweet potato fries.
The Chic-Kanye made an immediate impression with its layered stack of crispy fried chicken, maple bacon, and melted double American cheese. Slaw, crisp lettuce, barbecue sauce, and a fruity pineapple relish sliced through the decadent heaviness, giving every bite a sweet, smoky, and bright tang.

Centred on a grilled chicken breast layered with Swiss cheese and fresh lettuce, it trades heavy batter for a punchy combination of fiery peri peri and garlic sauce that delivers a clean hit of heat.
Alternating between the two burgers, the basket of sweet potato fries provided a crisp side that paired effortlessly with both the garlic bite of the Big L and the smoky barbecue tang of the Chic-Kanye.
