When I sat down at Neesh in East Brisbane, the menu bridged the space between robust classic comfort and nuanced Australian cafe styling. My table filled quickly with a substantial chargrilled 200g rib fillet steak sandwich, an intricate avocado toast topped with wattleseed parmesan, and golden zucchini and corn fritters.

What stood out across the spread was how each dish held its own distinct character, taking familiar morning staples and elevating them with thoughtful ingredient pairings.

THE QUICK ANSWER

Is Neesh East Brisbane worth adding to your itinerary?

To round out the meal, I opted for the Zucchini & Corn Fritters. Plated with soft poached eggs, crumbled feta, and fresh dill, the fritters added a bright, herb-forward balance that lightened the richer elements of the steak sandwich.

Chargrilled Rib Fillet and Native Flavour Accents

The main anchor of my order was the Steak Sandwich. Built around a chargrilled 200g rib fillet, it came stacked with lettuce, cheese, tomato, beetroot, grilled onions, and house BBQ sauce. Served alongside fries and a small pot of sauce, it brought a generous, tavern-style presence straight to the brunch table.

Right beside it, the Avocado on Toast took a much more delicate and layered direction. Built on toasted ciabatta, creamy avocado sat over a base of butternut pumpkin hummus, topped with wattleseed parmesan, slow-roasted tomatoes, feta, and a finishing drizzle of lemon and chive oil. The native wattleseed and savoury hummus brought an unexpected, earthy depth to classic avocado toast.

Golden Fritters to Complete the Table

To round out the meal, I opted for the Zucchini & Corn Fritters. Plated with soft poached eggs, crumbled feta, and fresh dill, the fritters added a bright, herb-forward balance that lightened the richer elements of the steak sandwich.

Moving between the heartiness of the rib fillet and the native accents on the ciabatta made for a remarkably balanced table in East Brisbane. It showed how easily a neighbourhood spot can satisfy both big savoury cravings and refined morning tastes.
