I did not expect a double-patty burger to leave such a lasting impression with a sweet finish, but that initial bite set the tone for our visit to Beans 'n' Bun. Situated right on the Gold Coast Highway in Mermaid Beach, the casual burger joint has launched a brand new menu under new management.
From loaded snacks served in metal tins to skewers shared across the table, the fresh lineup refines everyday comfort food into an easy, flavourful spread.

The kitchen's updated menu also brings several lighter, snackable dishes into the fold. The mushroom arancini balls are neatly plated over a smooth green sauce base, offering a delicate crispy texture. The satay chicken skewers, accompanied by sauce and sliced cucumber, were an immediate hit that earned praise from our whole table.

The main event of the lineup is the Cheese Me Daddy burger. Pulling it apart reveals double patties layered with cheese, but what makes it stand out is the patty itself. I did not expect the burger to taste the way it did; there is a distinct, sweet finish woven into the savoury beef that makes every bite addictive.
The accompanying sides hold their own alongside the burgers. The mozzarella sticks come served in a metal tin with dipping sauce, pulling apart into long, hot cheese stretches. Beside them, a bowl of bacon loaded fries comes piled high with bacon pieces, melted cheese, and savoury toppings.
