Italian food can be excellent and still feel transactional. Modo Mio gave us the opposite experience, with hospitality and atmosphere that made the table feel like somewhere to remain rather than somewhere to finish quickly.

The dish everyone kept returning to was the Linguine con Granchio. My friend noticed a subtle smoky flavour she had never encountered in a seafood linguine, giving the pasta a depth that made it particularly memorable.

THE QUICK ANSWER

Is Modo Mio worth adding to your itinerary?

Yes. It works particularly well when you want a Gold Coast Italian meal with warmth and atmosphere, rather than simply somewhere convenient inside the shopping precinct.

WHAT TO LOOK FOR

At a glance: what we ordered

  • Modo Mio Sour
  • Cirrani Peach Bellini
  • Carpaccio di Carne
  • Mozzarella in Carrozza
  • Linguine con Granchio

Zen’s take

The linguine was the headline, but the experience began well before it arrived. Carpaccio di Carne and Mozzarella in Carrozza gave us two distinct starters, and the cocktails made the lunch feel more like an occasion than a shopping-centre stop.

Modo Mio describes its offer as Italian-inspired rather than bound to one narrow regional style, with handmade pasta, wood-fired pizza, steaks and seafood across the current menu.

What I’d order again

The Linguine con Granchio would be my first return order, provided it remains on the menu. I would keep the Mozzarella in Carrozza to share and choose either the Modo Mio Sour or peach Bellini depending on the mood.
