Clayfield Cantina
Clayfield Cantina: Punchy House Sauces and Showstopping Birria Tacos
Clayfield Cantina delivers vibrant neighbourhood Mexican with memorable, bold flavours. Between the fiery Cardiologist hot sauce and the cheesy birria tacos, it makes a compelling case for a relaxed night out.

Sitting outside Clayfield Cantina behind the white picket fence with a bottle of Jarritos mango soda in hand sets a relaxed, welcoming mood straight away. We kicked off our meal dipping crisp corn chips into guacamole, but the real spark came when we added their special hot sauce, the Cardiologist.
That house hot sauce seriously packed a punch and lived up to its memorable name. We paired it alongside charred corn ribs dusted in red spice powder with a fresh lime wedge on the side, proving early on that this local Mexican spot does not hold back on heat or flavour.
Is Clayfield Cantina worth adding to your itinerary?
We could not leave without saving room for dessert, ordering the Biscoff churros to wrap up our meal. Plated with a dusting of cinnamon sugar and crushed Biscoff crumbs, the churros were paired with a warm Biscoff dipping sauce.

Showstopping Birria and Taco Spread
Our table filled out with a satisfying spread of Mexican street food staples. We sampled a pulled beef taco layered with cabbage, guacamole, cilantro, and white sauce, as well as a chicken bowl packed with crispy tenders, rice, black beans, shredded cabbage, and guacamole.
However, the birria tacos completely stole the show. Arriving as a pair with a dish of rich consommé dipping sauce, they were crisp on the outside, juicy, cheesy, and packed full of flavour. Dipping the tacos into the warm consommé made every bite remarkably rich and satisfying.
A Sweet Biscoff Ending
We could not leave without saving room for dessert, ordering the Biscoff churros to wrap up our meal. Plated with a dusting of cinnamon sugar and crushed Biscoff crumbs, the churros were paired with a warm Biscoff dipping sauce.
Dipping a forkful of crisp churro into the smooth, sweet sauce provided a delightful conclusion to a great night out, leaving a memorable impression of Clayfield's vibrant local cantina.
