I did not expect to leave Prison Island on the Gold Coast in stitches from so much laughing. Stepping past the illuminated entrance, we found an interactive setup packed with 39 challenge cells designed to test brainpower, physical strength, and teamwork.
Before diving into the rooms, we lined up back-to-back against the mugshot height wall under the venue logo, setting a playful tone before choosing our first challenge.

We were free to choose whichever cells we wanted to attempt and accumulate points along the way, though every task proved significantly harder than it looked on the surface. When we cleared certain rooms, a screen announced Level 2 Unlocked, inviting us to revisit the cell and push our score even higher.

Tackling Tactical Grids and Physical Obstacles
Each cell presents a completely different obstacle once you step inside. In one room, we navigated an illuminated colourful floor light grid, while another cell called Lucky Lane had us slapping glowing red target buttons across an arcade panel as fast as we could.
Other cells demanded far more physical coordination, from scaling a wooden frame structure built inside the walls to striking illuminated targets scattered across a UV paint-splattered cell. While some physical agility helps, you do not need to be a gym regular to take part. I haven't been to the gym in over a year, yet I was still able to complete most of the challenges and enjoy the experience.
Unlocking Levels and Playing Strategy
We were free to choose whichever cells we wanted to attempt and accumulate points along the way, though every task proved significantly harder than it looked on the surface. When we cleared certain rooms, a screen announced Level 2 Unlocked, inviting us to revisit the cell and push our score even higher.
At the end of our session, the system printed out a score sheet tracking our overall performance. Under our team name, FEASTING & FURIOUS, we wrapped up with 1,489 points after tackling 25 of the 39 cells.
Having extra hands makes a massive difference for many of these physical and tactical puzzles. Located right at 29 Cavill Ave in Surfers Paradise, it is a fantastic spot for birthdays, team building, or simply taking on a fresh challenge with a group of three or more friends.
