When a slice of San Sebastian cheesecake arrives with a dark caramelised top and a gentle, creamy yield under the spoon, it is hard to look anywhere else. At Mi Casa Cafe in Underwood, this housemade baked cheesecake takes centre stage on a table lined with generous dessert options.

We brought our Canadian visitors here to explore the dessert menu, settling into a dining room filled with curved banquette seating and warm hanging globe lights. Established in 2017, this suburban cafe pulls in a lively local crowd for sweet comfort.

THE QUICK ANSWER

Is Mi Casa Café Underwood worth adding to your itinerary?

Beyond the cheesecake cabinet, the menu expands into waffles, pancakes, and a selection of cakes and slices. We added the strawberry cheesecake waffle to our order, which comes piled high with scoops of ice cream, cream, fresh strawberries, berries, berry sauce, and a final drizzle.

Customised Toppings and the Classic Core

The main draw at Mi Casa Cafe is their housemade San Sebastian cheesecake, baked to achieve a rich, creamy centre and that signature caramelised top. You can order a slice plain or loaded with drizzles like pistachio cream, Nutella, Biscoff, Kinder, milk chocolate, or white chocolate.

We shared the Pistachio, Milk Chocolate, and Kinder Bueno slices across the table. Each slice comes liberally dressed with warm sauces and crushed nuts or chocolate toppings. It might be an unpopular opinion, but the underlying baked cheesecake is so good it would be just as enjoyable served completely plain.

Beyond the Baked Cheesecake

Beyond the cheesecake cabinet, the menu expands into waffles, pancakes, and a selection of cakes and slices. We added the strawberry cheesecake waffle to our order, which comes piled high with scoops of ice cream, cream, fresh strawberries, berries, berry sauce, and a final drizzle.

The waffle brings a bright, fruity contrast to the dense richness of the cheesecakes. Whether you are showing out-of-town guests around or treating yourself to a serious dessert run, a slice of housemade San Sebastian cheesecake is reason enough to make the trip to Underwood.
