Brisbane Diner Experience
Sue's Burgers & Shakes: Retro American Diner Classics and Dirty Sodas in Brisbane
Sue's Burgers & Shakes delivers a playful retro diner experience with juicy smash burgers, crispy chicken sandos, stretchy mozzarella sticks, and inventive dirty sodas worth ordering.

After seeing Sue's Burgers & Shakes everywhere across Brisbane, I finally sat down inside to test whether the local chatter lived up to the hype. The moment we walked in, the bright neon sign glowing over the counter established a fun retro American diner vibe that set the mood for lunch.
Checkered flooring, vintage pendant lights, and an old-school jukebox surround the dining room. It gave our table spread of burgers, fried chicken, chips, and sodas a playful backdrop before we even took our first bite.
Is Sue’s Burgers & Shakes Woolloongabba worth adding to your itinerary?
The biggest surprise of our visit was the Dirty Soda Bar section of the menu. Dirty sodas mix a sweet and creamy twist into classic soft drinks, and because I do not see them featured in many places around Brisbane, I was eager to sample what Sue's had created.

Diner Staples and Cheesy Pulls
We started our feast with the savoury staples on the menu: the Signature Sue Single smash burger, the Spicy Chicken Crack Sando, crinkle-cut chips with Dave's sauce, and a side of mozzarella sticks. The smash burger arrived layered with melted cheese, crisp green lettuce, and sliced tomato, while the spicy chicken sando had a satisfying crunch beneath its seasoned coating.
Dipping the crinkle-cut fries into a container of pink Dave's sauce added a tangy edge to every salty bite, but the mozzarella sticks turned out to be a real crowd-pleaser. Standing up in our booth to pull one apart stretched the melted cheese high overhead in long ribbons before we gave it a deep dunk into the white dipping sauce.
The Standout Dirty Soda Bar
The biggest surprise of our visit was the Dirty Soda Bar section of the menu. Dirty sodas mix a sweet and creamy twist into classic soft drinks, and because I do not see them featured in many places around Brisbane, I was eager to sample what Sue's had created.
We toasted with two distinct flavour combinations: the Raspberry & Coconut Dirty Soda and a Mango Lychee Splash finished with coconut cream. Served in transparent branded cups with red-and-white striped straws, these cold drinks featured distinct layered liquid and creamy foam tops. The fizzy, coconut-laden sip brought a sweet contrast to our savoury burgers and salty sides. If you are putting together a list of Brisbane burger spots, Sue's is well worth adding, if only to decide which dirty soda you will order first.
