The Indian Host, Southport: Burrata Chaat and Bold Indian Comfort Food
The Indian Host balances rich, comforting curries with inventive dishes like burrata chaat, making it a standout dining destination in Southport.

Piercing a white ball of creamy burrata over a dish of vibrant chaat immediately signals what makes The Indian Host in Southport so engaging. Diced apple, pomegranate seeds, and chilli flakes scatter across the cheese, delivering a contrast of creamy, crunchy, sweet, and spicy elements that make an instant impression.
Set along Scarborough Street, the venue pairs a sleek modern interior with wood-slat wall accents and a menu devoted to rich comfort food. It is the kind of table where playful street-snack starters seamlessly lead into a full spread of curries and fresh naan.

Street Snacks and Single-Bite Winners
The dahi puri arrives lined up on fresh greens, crowned with crispy sev and bright pomegranate seeds. My absolute rule for these crispy shells is popping each one whole into your mouth in a single bite so the cool yogurt, spice, and crunch burst together at once.
The burrata chaat is the true standout among the starters. Slicing into the soft cheese lets it cascade across the crunchy chaat below, delivering a dynamic sweet and spicy balance that feels like a party on the plate.
Hearty Curries and Stuffed Naan
For the main course, our table filled with comforting plates, including a chickpea masala garnished with raw red onion rings, fresh lime, and cherry tomatoes, alongside a rich lamb curry topped with coconut and fresh curry leaves. The cheese and garlic naan arrived soft, fluffy, and speckled with herbs and chilli flakes, making it perfect for scooping up every drop of sauce.
We also sampled the Lamb Seekh Naanzaa Affair, featuring stuffed naan rolled up and sliced wrap-style alongside salad greens and a dipping sauce. Between bites, chilled lychee coladas topped with rose petals offered a sweet, fragrant lift, while a hot cup of masala chai provided a classic, warming match alongside the curries.
