Stepping into Hai Hai Ramen on Boundary Street in West End, the first bowl to order is the chicken shio ramen. Built on a mushroom and vegetable broth with shio tare, it brings together grilled chicken, sprouts, bamboo heart, sesame seeds, green onion, and a half egg. Every bite delivers a smooth, comforting depth that immediately sets the tone for the meal.

What makes this spot even better is how easily it accommodates different diets without sacrificing character, offering a gluten-free noodle option so everyone at the table can enjoy a proper bowl of ramen.

Shared Seating and Neighbourhood Warmth

Inside, high bar seating, dark textured walls, and a vibrant neon Godzilla sign create a lively, comfortable setting. Host William and the team greeted us with genuine warmth, making us feel right at home around the share-style seating. That welcoming energy makes the space feel instantly accessible, whether you are stopping by for a solo weeknight dinner or gathering a group of friends.

Plates and Cocktails Across the Table

While ramen is the main event, the side dishes give plenty of reason to share across the table. We enjoyed pan-fried wagyu gyoza served alongside house chashu, alongside crispy gluten-free karaage chicken dipped in whipped sauce. The fried brussels sprouts, tossed with pepper and served over creamy whipped tofu, added a crisp, savoury balance to the feast.

If you prefer soup-free noodles, the XO pork mazemen features thick noodles mixed in a rich sauce with grilled pork belly, menma, pickled shiitake, half egg, pork XO sauce, yuzu, and coriander. To round out the table spread, we paired our dishes with a refreshing Yuzu Hai-Ball and a Matcha Espresso Martini layered with Wolf Lane Vietnamese coffee liquor, vodka, condensed milk, and matcha whipped cream.
