Mama San Bali: Bold Asian Flavours and Peking Duck in 1920s Shanghai Style
Mama San pairs a dark, moody 1920s Shanghai atmosphere with bold Asian flavours and a memorable half Peking duck finish, making it a standout pick for a night out in Bali.

When we settled in for dinner at Mama San in Bali, bamboo baskets filled with steamed dumplings and drinks at our table immediately set the scene against a dark, moody backdrop.
The dining room instantly pulls you in with its 1920s Shanghai aesthetic, combining deep timber accents and plush green banquettes with vintage chandeliers and dim ambient lighting to create a refined night out.

A Shared Feast of Regional Flavours
We came looking for bold Asian flavours done right, so ordering a shared feast felt like the absolute best way to experience what the kitchen does best.
The menu gathers culinary inspiration from right across Southeast Asia, drawing on regional cooking traditions from Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore.
For tables that want a fully curated dining journey, Mama San provides a Feed Me banquet option where the kitchen team selects the entire sequence of courses for you.
Sharing these dishes in a dimly lit, high-energy dining room creates a wonderfully communal tempo. Enjoying bamboo baskets of dumplings together alongside drinks makes the start of the feast feel lively and celebratory.
Finishing Strong with Peking Duck
The real highlight of our meal arrived towards the conclusion of the feast, when we finished strong with half a Peking duck.
The duck is presented with a unique cranberry hoisin sauce, crisp cucumber slices, green shallots and scallions, and warm Mandarin pancakes, giving the final course a wonderfully hands-on appeal.
Beyond the ground-floor restaurant, the experience continues upstairs at the Lounge and Supper Club. Operating as a vintage speakeasy venue, it pairs Southeast Asian dishes with vinyl DJ performances late into the night.
Whether you spend your whole evening over a shared banquet downstairs or head upstairs to the speakeasy lounge, Mama San delivers a dark, moody Bali dining experience done right.
