Lifting a cocktail garnished with a delicate red origami crane sets an immediate, playful tone for the evening. At Night Market on Brunswick Street in Fortitude Valley, we kicked off our visit with signature drinks like Bang Bang and Snap Me A Selfie, which offered a fun and lively way to ease into the night.

Stepping past the red carpet and velvet ropes into the venue, the room feels instantly moody and cozy. Dim mood lighting, glowing red leather booths, a vertical purple neon sign reading 'sake sake sake', and Chinese text light installations create an intimate setting made for sitting back and taking your time.

THE QUICK ANSWER

Is Night Market Brisbane worth adding to your itinerary?

While the savoury courses are deeply satisfying, saving room for dessert is well worth it. The Matchamisu presents a smooth, layered matcha dessert built with savoiardi biscuits and mascarpone, dusted with green tea powder.

A Steady Rhythm of Asian Share Plates

The food arrives steadily in casual share-plate style, bringing a sequence of flavour-packed dishes designed to keep you reaching back for one more bite. Plated under soft table lighting, glazed Shichimi lamb ribs come dressed with soy glaze, house pickles, and ribboned vegetables, while pan-fried pork dumplings with chili sauce and fried miso caramel chicken keep the table active.

We also tucked into fresh Wagyu tartare crowned with a bright egg yolk and sliced radish, served with a large crisp cracker for scooping. Rounding out the savoury table with grilled Wagyu and chicken thigh skewers, green tea pork belly with cucumber ribbons, Okonomiyaki fries topped with bonito flakes, and Wafu greens topped with fried shallots makes for a thoroughly satisfying feast.

Slowing Down for Essential Desserts

While the savoury courses are deeply satisfying, saving room for dessert is well worth it. The Matchamisu presents a smooth, layered matcha dessert built with savoiardi biscuits and mascarpone, dusted with green tea powder.

Alongside it, the Pandan Coconut Pannacotta pairs silky green pannacotta with dark chocolate crumble, lychee balls, and a vibrant red sauce. Spooning through the creamy pannacotta offers a gentle, relaxing way to slow things down before ending the night in Fortitude Valley.
