Aunty delivers a lively, share-focused dining experience in Fortitude Valley, anchored by the Quick Sticks Banquet and elevated by standout dishes like Wagyu stir-fried beef and milk tea toast.

Stepping under the lit exterior sign at Aunty on Wandoo Street in Fortitude Valley, I quickly realised why this spot draws a crowd. The restaurant is designed entirely around sharing, making it ideal for group catch-ups, celebrations, or long lunches that seamlessly drift into dinner.

We settled at our dark marble table beneath glass wine racks, clinking orange cocktails to kick off the afternoon. To sample a bit of everything across the menu, we used the Quick Sticks Banquet as our foundation before ordering extra share plates to turn the table into a proper feast.

THE QUICK ANSWER

Is Aunty worth adding to your itinerary?

Dessert turned into its own event with three distinct treats brought to the table. We sampled mini pandan custard tarts topped with edible flower petals and a refreshing mango sorbet sando, later clinking glasses of red wine as the meal wound down.

Savoury Share Plates and Extra Banquet Additions

The initial banquet dishes set a lively pace across the table, featuring charred pressed Wagyu skewers lifted with tongs, crispy fried calamari with fresh lemon, a refreshing cucumber and mint green salad, and charred lamb ribs coated in vibrant green sauce. We expanded the feast with chilli crab Shanghai noodles topped with a cooked lobster claw, alongside egg and lap yuk fried rice tossed with shrimp and chili oil.

Among all the savoury courses, my clear favourite was the Wagyu stir-fried beef, served in a rich sauce alongside fresh Asian greens. The half duck was another standout, presented two different ways with fresh green herbs that brought great contrast to the meal.

A Trio of Desserts to Finish

Dessert turned into its own event with three distinct treats brought to the table. We sampled mini pandan custard tarts topped with edible flower petals and a refreshing mango sorbet sando, later clinking glasses of red wine as the meal wound down.

The absolute highlight of the sweet lineup was the signature Aunty milk tea toast. Golden toasted blocks arrived drizzled with cream and a rich combination of salted egg custard and milk tea caramel, creating an unforgettable dessert that makes gathering a group here completely worthwhile.
