Pingpong at Newstead Gasworks combines dynamic colour-changing overhead lights and statement neon with a vibrant spread of shared Asian dishes, creating an energetic backdrop for group dining.

A glowing red neon sign reading LOVE YOU LONG TIME stands out against exposed brickwork at Pingpong in Newstead Gasworks. Stepping inside reveals a dining room bathed in pink light, furnished with high bar seating and timber tables.
Directly overhead, dense clusters of round white orb lights form a geometric canopy above the dining area, casting a bright illumination over the room before any food arrives.

WHAT TO LOOK FOR
Experience highlights
The details to look out for in Zen’s experience.
Shifting Moods and Styled Drinks
The playful style extends directly to the drinks menu. A pink cocktail arrives topped with light foam, ice, a striped straw, a fresh cherry, and a mini red paper umbrella perched on the rim.
As the evening progresses, the suspended orb clusters cycle through shifting shades of blue, green, orange, and pink, continuously altering the light across the dining room.
Shared Plates Across the Table
The table fills with a colourful spread of Asian dishes arranged across a speckled surface. Sliced roast duck is served on a bright pink platter with fresh herbs, bean sprouts, light wrappers, and dipping sauce for rolling at the table.
Alongside the duck, braised beef short rib comes glazed in a dark sauce and garnished with shredded fresh vegetables, paired with a ceramic bowl of stir-fried cashew nuts, peppers, and coriander.
Steamed white rice topped with crispy fried shallots accompanies the dishes, along with bowls of crisp dark fried herbs and freshly sliced red chillies for added heat.
Retro Sweet Finish
For dessert, a tall ice cream sundae glass holds scoops of orange ice cream, topped with whipped cream, a cherry, and a wafer stick, presented beside a second sweet bowl.
Between its shifting ceiling installation and colourful shared plates, Pingpong offers a high-energy dining setting in Newstead Gasworks.
