Tea Master Vegetarian Café Restaurant delivers a satisfying sweet tea break on Wickham Street, pairing custom pearl milk teas with warm, fluffy deep-fried golden buns.

Holding a vibrant pink rose black tea outside Tea Master Vegetarian Café Restaurant in Fortitude Valley is the kind of colourful opening that makes you want to pause on Wickham Street. With storefront signage welcoming visitors to an extensive vegetarian menu, this casual spot pairs a wide selection of custom brews with quick, comforting food.
We grabbed a spot in the outdoor seating area to sip through a couple of signature pearl teas and sample a few bites straight off the kitchen line.
Is Tea Master Vegetarian Cafe worth adding to your itinerary?
While the drink menu keeps you lingering, the real highlight on our table was a plate of deep-fried golden buns. Served warm over a fresh lettuce base and drizzled with sweet condensed milk, they offer a crisp shell on the outside and a light, fluffy core within.

Highlights from Zen’s visit.
At a glance: what we ordered
- Rose black tea with pearls and coconut jelly
- Lavender milk tea with classic pearls
- Deep-fried golden buns with condensed milk
Sipping Rose Black and Lavender Milk Teas
We started with the rose black tea, loaded up with chewy tapioca pearls and translucent coconut jelly. The drink comes through bright and pink in the cup, giving a subtle floral note alongside the generous bite of the pearls and jelly.
Following that, we picked up the lavender milk tea filled with classic dark pearls. Sipped outside through a wide straw, it brings a smooth milk tea flavour that offers a pleasant contrast to the lighter floral profile of the rose brew.
Golden Fried Buns and Cabinet Treats
While the drink menu keeps you lingering, the real highlight on our table was a plate of deep-fried golden buns. Served warm over a fresh lettuce base and drizzled with sweet condensed milk, they offer a crisp shell on the outside and a light, fluffy core within.
Beyond the sweet treats, the kitchen turns out savoury plates like stir-fried flat rice noodles tossed with green vegetables, bean sprouts, and egg. If you are eyeing up dessert afterwards, a refrigerated display cabinet near the counter holds chilled pots of mango pudding, grass jelly, mango jelly, egg pudding, and coconut pudding.
