South Brisbane Dining
Brunch at The Gunshop Cafe: Cool Drinks and Vegetarian Delights
The Gunshop Cafe delivers a thoughtful brunch lineup where plant-focused plates shine alongside creative, refreshing iced drinks.

Starting our brunch at The Gunshop Cafe with a round of chilled drinks set a relaxed pace, and the Pina Coconut quickly emerged as my absolute favourite sip. Creamy and refreshing, it sat alongside the sesame latte as a highlight of our table spread, which also featured an iced orange earl grey and an iced yuzu strawberry black sesame.
Located at 53 Mollison Street in South Brisbane, the cafe blends a cozy neighbourhood character with an open dining room. Inside, rustic wooden tables, exposed brick walls with framed art, and polished timber floors frame the view into the open kitchen pass.
Is The Gunshop Cafe worth adding to your itinerary?
We could not leave without trying the special French toast, and saving room for it was definitely worth it. Thick slices of toast arrived loaded with honey butter and smooth vanilla mascarpone, garnished with crunchy biscotti, sliced fresh fruit, and a bright red berry syrup.

Plant-Focused Savoury Plates
Every dish we ordered during this visit was vegetarian, alongside gluten-free options that make the menu particularly well suited if you need to cater for special dietary requirements. We went all in on the mains, beginning with the omelette special. Plated over vibrant orange sweet potato mash and topped with earthy truffle mushrooms, almond flakes, and delicate microgreens, it brought plenty of depth to our first savoury bites.
The sweet potato and thyme rosti followed, making a brilliant partner to the omelette. A soft poached egg crowned the crispy golden rosti stack, drizzled with a striking pink beetroot hollandaise sauce that pooled over the plate as the egg was cut open.
