Wu Kong Kitchen & Bar Serves Share-Style Dining in Brisbane
Sharing food is my favourite style of dining, and assembling a table of shared plates at Wu Kong Kitchen & Bar makes gathering around a meal a real pleasure.

Sharing food is my absolute favourite style of dining, so spreading a feast across a table at Wu Kong Kitchen & Bar in Brisbane was right up my alley. The restaurant introduces a striking narrative to Brisbane, taking its design and branding inspiration from the mythical origins of the Monkey King, the legendary character from the classic 16th-century novel Journey to the West. Throughout the venue, thematic touches recall elements like the Magical Stone and the Waterfall Cave.
The venue is operated by a hospitality team bringing together over a century of collective experience. That background shows in how seamlessly the space balances thematic flair with communal dining, right down to the option for guests to book a specialized VIP room styled after the legendary Water Curtain Cave.

Savoury Shared Mains
For me, the key to a memorable shared meal is assembling a variety of main dishes that keep the table lively. Our meal centered around three standout savoury plates: Chef Special Sauteed Prawn, Plum Duck, and Kong Pao Chicken.
Combining prawns, Plum Duck, and Kong Pao Chicken across central plates ensures that every pass of the shared table brings a distinct protein and flavour style to the feast.
Essential Side Plates and Staples
No communal Asian banquet is complete without anchoring staples that bind the entire meal together. To round out our savoury mains, we added the Seasonal Vegetable Stir Fry and signature Wu Kong Fried Rice to the middle of the table.
The stir-fried seasonal greens bring balance to the meal, while the Wu Kong Fried Rice acts as the generous foundation that accompanies the prawn, duck, and chicken dishes.
