When I picked up a piece of crispy barbecue chicken with my chopsticks at New Season Asian, the comforting appeal of this Charlotte Street spot was clear before I even took a bite. Stepping inside the dining room at 52 Charlotte St in Brisbane City, the first thing that struck me was the sheer scale of the menu.
It is the sort of place where a big table quickly fills up because nobody can narrow down their choices. With woven ceiling light fixtures hanging overhead and a room built for casual group gatherings, we settled in for a meal made for sharing.

A Table Loaded with Comforting Starters and Noodles
We started by filling the table with crunch and rich sauces. Baskets of crispy wonton sheets with sweet chilli sauce sat alongside skewers of chicken satay served over salad with peanut dipping sauce, while dark garlic chive cakes topped with crispy fried garlic offered a savoury bite.
As the main dishes arrived, the spread showed why people quickly become regulars here. Plates like the roast duck dry egg noodles, kailan with oyster sauce, fried tofu, and veggie pad see ew tangled with thick flat noodles were packed full of rich, comforting flavour. A big bowl of special veggies fried rice, garnished with fresh herbs, cucumber slices, and lemon, anchored the feast and kept us reaching back for one more bite.
